The Importance of the Meta Tag By Dillon Shepherd A lot of websites claim that the meta keywords tag and the meta description tag are useless in the eyes of Google. This may be mostly true for the keywords tag, but the description tag is very useful! This is a tag that Google relies on to tell them about the site. If it isn't created correctly, then Google devalues your page further. By creating a good meta description tag, you can increase your search engine position. Your meta description tag should contain your keywords, but not stuffed in. They should fit in naturally with the sentences, and not make the sentence choppy. For example 'weight loss for weight losing people' is not a good meta description tag. You should revise it into something better, such as 'Weight Loss site for people looking into losing weight'. This description fits your site better, and isn't choppy and annoying!
