Improve your Singing Voice

A lot of people are looking for ways to improve their voice, but don't know where to start. Here's a list of the best possible things you can do to improve your singing voice. Posture: If your standing, your shoulders should line up directly under your ears. Your knees should be slightly bent, and your feet should be slightly apart facing outwards. If you're sitting, sit with good posture. Your ears should be directly above your shoulders Breathing. When most people breathe, their chest expands. When you sing, your stomach should expand and your shoulders shouldn't move! From the abdomen: Don't sing from your throat, sing from as low as possible. You should feel the vibrations in your abdomen. Round Vowel Sounds: Don't say uhhh. Replace every uhhh in a song with ahhh. Don't say ow. Say ou instead. Make space: Make as much space as possible. Open your throat, your nostrils, and your mouth as wide as possible! Follow these rules, and you're voice will improve guarenteed! |

'Don't sing from your throat'? Your larynx is in your throat and the vocal folds are the only sound producing ie vibratory mechanism. How can you possibly feel vibrations in your abdomen? Opening your mouth as wide as possible will result in you pushing down your larynx. This will not only make your voice sound unnecessarily 'dark' but will also make the higher notes harder to reach. Don't say 'uhh' say 'ahh'? So you'd sing the word 'power' as 'powah' would you? Doing a lot of what you suggest will make the voice worse - guaranteed.
